The drive down, the sunset on the water, the feeling that the state had finally run out of road. This is the trip we still send people to when they ask what to do with four days in South Florida.

Beach mornings, a run down to Key West, and the family-friendly spots we test on ordinary weekends. This is our backyard, and where most of the everyday content is made.
Home base
We do not have to get on a plane to have a story worth telling.
That is the whole point of living here.
The Amalfi Coast set the bar. South Florida is where we live against it: a golden-hour walk, a hotel that means it when it says family-friendly, and the weekend we drove south until the road ran out at Key West. Most of what you see on this page was shot within a day's drive of home.

Key Largo
The pause before the last stretch. We looked hard at Bungalows Key Largo — overwater, slow, the kind of stay you book when the point is not covering ground.
Fort Lauderdale
Pier Sixty-Six, a proper hotel night at the W, and a beach that still feels like a city decided to share it. Close enough for a weeknight, dressed enough for an anniversary.
Palm Beach County
Ordinary weekends. A table at Spruzzo. A beach morning that does not need a packing list. This is where the everyday content comes from — not a trip, just how we live.
